Interview with Tony & Mona Ray | Women(+) We’ve Been Waiting For | S1: Ep. 21

Today we're coming to you fresh from a BreakinMIA dance class! Which could not be more appropriate—because Tony Ray has traveled and taught around the globe, sharing his artistry, talent, and love for house dance at several international battles and competitions. He’s a proud representative of Dance Fusion Family, a New York Legacy for House culture, and SourPatchCrew, a collective of artists around North America. He and his wife Mona Ray hope to shine some light around the world with their genuine love for music, culture, and movement. Mona is a professional dancer and artist, working as a creative director for over 10 years. She has been teaching the art of storytelling through dance, and has been competing and performing since she was in her teens. She’s currently writing a novel.

TODAY Tony and Mona bring to light the untold stories behind dance, culture, and movement—and discuss how philanthropic funding could shape and transform lives within this particular community, and provide direction when it's so deeply needed...because art, and dance as an art form, is often the first language of so many people.

Who should we interview next? We’d love to hear your thoughts.

Why Women(+)? We were inspired by one of the pioneers of this movement Jacki Zehner, and we adapted the term from ShePlace: “women(+) includes all self-identifying women, including cis and transgender women, non-binary and gender-fluid individuals, and all allies who share our values.”
